Description
- Broad spectrum antimycotic
- Anti-inflammatory
- Anti-pruritic
- Anti-allergic
- Composed of Econazole Nitrate and Triamcinolone Acetonide
- Effective against various pathogens and skin conditions
- Antibacterial effects on gram-positive cocci and bacilli
Dosage & Administration
- Apply sparingly to the skin lesion
- Maximum 2 times daily
- Not to be applied with occlusive dressing
- Duration of treatment not longer than 2 weeks
- Special caution for pediatric use
Interaction
- Metabolized by CYP3A4/2C9 for oral anticoagulants (warfarin & acenocoumarol)
- Lowering of plasma salicylates levels with Triamcinolone
- Increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and ulceration with NSAIDs
- Antagonized blood glucose-lowering effects of the antidiabetics
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients
- Specific skin conditions such as tuberculous, varicella, herpes simplex or other viral infections of the skin
- Fresh vaccination sites
- Decubitus ulcers
- Rosacea and rosacea-like dermatitis
Side Effects
- Transient local mild irritation
- Itching
- Redness
- Adrenal suppression on long term continuous topical steroid therapy
- Potential for systemic effects in infants or children
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Potential risk to fetal development
- Topical steroids not recommended in large amounts or for prolonged periods during pregnancy
- Negligible excretion in breast milk
- Precaution prescribed for lactating mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- External use only
- Not for ophthalmic or oral use
- Discontinue in case of hypersensitivity or chemical irritation
- Systemic effects including adrenal suppression
- Increased risk of skin thinning and atrophy, striae, telangiectasis and purpura
- Increased risk of dermatological superinfection
- Caution required in treating children
Overdose Effects
- Cutaneous application only
- Potential for systemic effects if accidental ingestion
- Risk if accidentally applied to the eyes
