Dosage
- Adults: Apply sparingly no more than 2 times daily
- Pediatric Use: Greater susceptibility to side effects
Interaction
- Econazole: Metabolized by CYP3A4/2C9
- Triamcinolone:
- Lowers plasma salicylates levels
- Increases risk of GI bleeding and ulceration with NSAIDs
- Antagonizes blood glucose-lowering effects of antidiabetics
- Increases risk of hyperkalemia with certain medications
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any ingredients
- Specific skin conditions (tuberculous, varicella, herpes simplex, etc.)
Side Effects
- Transient local irritation
- Adrenal suppression with long-term use
- Infant susceptibility
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy: Crosses placenta, avoid prolonged use
- Lactation: Excreted in small amounts in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only
- Discontinue use if hypersensitivity or chemical irritation occurs
- Associated with systemic effects including adrenal suppression
- Skin thinning and atrophy
- Increased risk of superinfection
- Visual disturbance associated with corticosteroid use
