Dosage

  • Adults: Apply sparingly no more than 2 times daily
  • Pediatric Use: Greater susceptibility to side effects

Interaction

  • Econazole: Metabolized by CYP3A4/2C9
  • Triamcinolone:
    • Lowers plasma salicylates levels
    • Increases risk of GI bleeding and ulceration with NSAIDs
    • Antagonizes blood glucose-lowering effects of antidiabetics
    • Increases risk of hyperkalemia with certain medications

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any ingredients
  • Specific skin conditions (tuberculous, varicella, herpes simplex, etc.)

Side Effects

  • Transient local irritation
  • Adrenal suppression with long-term use
  • Infant susceptibility

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy: Crosses placenta, avoid prolonged use
  • Lactation: Excreted in small amounts in breast milk

Precautions & Warnings

  • For external use only
  • Discontinue use if hypersensitivity or chemical irritation occurs
  • Associated with systemic effects including adrenal suppression
  • Skin thinning and atrophy
  • Increased risk of superinfection
  • Visual disturbance associated with corticosteroid use
