Description
- Broad spectrum antimycotic
- Anti-inflammatory
- Anti-pruritic
- Anti-allergic effects
- Composed of Econazole Nitrate

- Effective against gram-positive and fungus

Dosage & Administration
- Applied sparingly to the skin lesion
- No more than 2 times daily
- Preferably once in the morning and once in the evening
- Not applied with an occlusive dressing
- Not applied to large areas of skin on the body

Interaction
- Econazole metabolized by CYP3A4/2C9
- Interactions with oral anticoagulants
- Triamcinolone's impact on plasma salicylates levels
- Increased risk of GI bleeding and ulceration with NSAIDs
- Antagonized blood glucose-lowering effects of the antidiabetics
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients
- Contraindicated in specific skin conditions
- Contraindicated in viral, bacterial, or fungal skin infections
Side Effects
- Transient local mild irritation

- Well tolerated even by delicate skin
- Adrenal suppression on long term continuous topical steroid therapy
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Corticosteroids during pregnancy can cause abnormalities of foetal development
- Topical steroids should not be used in pregnancy
- Negligible amount of econazole excreted in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only
- Not for ophthalmic or oral use
- Discontinue use if hypersensitivity reaction occurs
- Increased caution required when treating children
- Potential systemic effects with prolonged use
Overdose Effects
- Corticosteroids applied to the skin can be absorbed sufficiently to produce systemic effects
- Treat symptomatically in case of accidental ingestion
- Seek medical attention if accidentally applied to the eyes
