Description

  • Broad spectrum antimycotic
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Anti-pruritic
  • Anti-allergic effects
  • Composed of Econazole Nitrate and Triamcinolone Acetonide
  • Effective against dermatomycoses caused by various pathogens
  • Antibacterial effect on gram-positive cocci and bacilli
  • Well absorbed from sites of local application

Dosage & Administration

  • Adults: Apply sparingly no more than 2 times daily
  • Preferably once in the morning and once in the evening
  • Not to be applied with an occlusive dressing or to large areas of skin
  • Pediatric Use caution due to greater susceptibility

Interaction

  • Econazole metabolized by CYP3A4/2C9
  • Interaction with oral anticoagulants
  • Triamcinolone interaction with salicylates, NSAIDs, antidiabetics, amphotericin B, beta-blockers, potassium-depleting diuretics, theophylline, ciclosporin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, barbiturate, rifampicin

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients
  • Contraindicated in specific skin conditions
  • Contraindicated in certain infections
  • Contraindicated in rosacea and rosacea-like dermatitis

Side Effects

  • Transient local mild irritation
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Adrenal suppression on long-term continuous topical steroid therapy
  • Possibility of systemic effects in infants or children
  • Potential occlusive dressing effect in infants

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Triamcinolone crosses the placenta
  • Use of topical steroids in large amounts or for prolonged periods should be avoided during pregnancy
  • Negligible excretion in breast milk
  • Lactation should be withheld during treatment

Precautions & Warnings

  • For external use only
  • Discontinue if hypersensitivity or chemical irritation occurs
  • Risk of systemic effects and skin thinning
  • Caution in children due to increased absorption
  • Visual disturbance may be associated with corticosteroid use

Overdose Effects

  • Corticosteroids can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects if accidentally ingested or applied to the eyes
  • Treat symptomatically if accidentally ingested, seek medical attention if applied to the eyes
