Corabid 5 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris in coronary artery disease patients
• Alternative for patients unable to tolerate beta-blockers
• Combination therapy for patients inadequately controlled with beta-blockers

Pharmacology

• Pure heart rate lowering agent
• Selective inhibition of cardiac pacemaker I f current
• Regulation of heart rate and cardiac workload
• Prolongs diastole for increased coronary artery perfusion

Dosage & Administration

• Usual starting dose: 5 mg twice daily
• Usual maintenance dose: 7.5 mg twice daily
• Adjustment for heart rate below 50 bpm
• Lower starting dose for elderly patients
• No dose adjustment for renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance above 15ml/min)
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment
• Not recommended for children and adolescents

Interaction

• Avoid concomitant use with QT wave prolonging medicinal products
• Close cardiac monitoring if combination appears necessary

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Ivabradine or excipients
• Resting heart rate below 60 bpm
• Cardiogenic shock, acute myocardial infarction
• Severe hypotension, severe hepatic insufficiency
• Sick sinus syndrome, sino-atrial block
• Heart failure, pacemaker dependent
• Unstable angina, 3rd degree AV block
• Combination with strong cytochrome P-450 3A4 inhibitors

Side Effects

• Visual symptoms, blurred vision
• Bradycardia, 1st degree AV block, ventricular extrasystoles
• Headaches, dizziness

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Contraindicated during pregnancy
• Excreted in milk, contraindicated during breastfeeding

Precautions & Warnings

• Mild to moderate hypotension
• Atrial fibrillation
• Congenital QT syndrome or treatment with QT wave prolonging medicinal products
• Moderate hepatic insufficiency, severe renal insufficiency
