Corabid 7.5 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris
• Coronary artery disease patients with normal sinus rhythm
• Inability to tolerate or contra-indication to beta-blockers
• Combination therapy with beta-blockers
• Heart rate control

Pharmacology

• Pure heart rate lowering agent
• Selective inhibition of cardiac pacemaker I f current
• Regulation of heart rate
• Decreased cardiac workload
• Prolonged diastole for increased perfusion of coronary arteries

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended starting dose of 5 mg twice daily
• Increase to 7.5 mg twice daily based on response
• Adjustment of dose if heart rate decreases persistently below 50 bpm
• Lower starting dose for elderly patients
• No dose adjustment in renal insufficiency

Interaction

• Avoid concomitant use with QT wave prolonging medicinal products
• Close cardiac monitoring if combination is necessary

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Ivabradine or excipients
• Resting heart rate below 60 bpm
• Cardiogenic shock
• Acute myocardial infarction
• Severe hypotension
• Severe hepatic insufficiency
• Sick sinus syndrome
• Sino-atrial block
• Heart failure
• 3rd degree AV block
• Combination with strong cytochrome P-450 3A4 inhibitors

Side Effects

• Visual symptoms
• Blurred vision
• Bradycardia
• 1st degree AV block
• Ventricular extrasystoles
• Headaches
• Dizziness

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Contraindicated during pregnancy
• Excreted in breast milk

Precautions & Warnings

• Mild to moderate hypotension
• Atrial fibrillation
• Congenital QT syndrome
• Use with QT wave prolonging medicinal products
• Moderate hepatic insufficiency
• Severe renal insufficiency
