Description
- Symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris
- Pure heart rate lowering agent
- Selective and specific inhibition of the cardiac pacemaker I f current
- Regulates heart rate
- Decreases cardiac workload
- Prolongs diastole for increased perfusion of coronary arteries
- Usual recommended starting dose of 5 mg twice daily
- Usual dose is 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening during meals
- Dose adjustment for heart rate below 50 bpm
- Lower starting dose for elderly patients
- No dose adjustment for renal insufficiency with creatinine clearance above 15ml/min
- Contra-indicated in severe hepatic insufficiency
- Not recommended for use in children and adolescents
- Interacts with QT wave prolonging medicinal products
- Contraindicated in various conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, severe hypotension, sick sinus syndrome, heart failure, etc.
- May cause visual symptoms, blurred vision, bradycardia, headaches, and dizziness
- Contra-indicated during pregnancy and lactation
- Requires precautions in patients with mild to moderate hypotension, atrial fibrillation, congenital QT syndrome, etc.
