Cinamycin Plus 1.2%+0.025% (Topical Gel)

Indications

• Topical treatment of Acne vulgaris

Pharmacology

• Combination of lincosamide antibiotic Clindamycin phosphate and retinoid Tretinoin
• Clindamycin binds with 50s ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria
• Prevents elongation of peptide chain by interfering with peptidyl transfer
• Tretinoin decreases cohesiveness of follicular epithelial cells

Dosage & Administration

• Apply before sleep
• Wash face gently with mild soap and water
• Pat skin dry
• Apply gel with finger tips through the face gently
• Apply sunscreen in the morning after the application of gel
• Do not wash face more than 2 or 3 times a day
• Safety and effectiveness in children below 12 years of age have not been established

Interaction

• Concomitant use of potentially irritating topical products should be approached with caution
• Avoid concomitant use with Erythromycin
• Avoid concomitant use with neuromuscular medicine

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Clindamycin or Tretinoin or any other component of the gel

Side Effects

• Erythema
• Scaling
• Nasopharyngitis
• Dry skin
• Cough
• Sinusitis
• Diarrhea

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Excretion in human milk is not known
• Exercise caution while applying to nursing mother

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid application to eyes, nose, ear, lips, cut, burn, and other infections
• Keep away from sunlight after application
