Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol
Pharmacology
Bactericidal effect through binding of positively charged chlorhexidine cation to bacterial cell walls
Dosage & Administration
- Disinfecting clean hands: 3 ml on hand, scrub until dry
- Disinfecting surgical instruments: 5 ml in clean pot, immerse for 2 minutes
- Disinfecting skin prior to surgery: 3 ml with cotton, scrub until dry
- Disinfecting wound/wound dressing: 3 ml with cotton, scrub until dry
Interaction
Incompatible with soaps and anionic agents, may cause brown stains with hypochlorite bleaches
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any composition
