Indications

• Disinfecting clean hands before surgical procedures
• Disinfecting surgical instruments
• Disinfecting skin prior to surgery
• Disinfecting wound dressing

Composition

• 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
• 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol

Pharmacology

Chlorhexidine cation binds to negatively charged bacterial cell walls, resulting in bactericidal effect

Dosage & Administration

• Disinfecting clean hand; contaminated materials: Apply approximately 3 ml on hand and scrub until dried
• Disinfecting surgical instruments: Immerse instruments in approximately 5 ml solution for 2 minutes
• Disinfecting skin prior to surgery or other invasive procedures: Apply approximately 3 ml with cotton and scrub on the skin until dried
• Disinfecting wound/wound dressing: Apply approximately 3 ml with cotton on the wound until dried

Interaction

Incompatible with soaps and other anionic agents. Hypochlorite bleaches may cause brown stains in fabrics previously in contact with chlorhexidine solutions

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any composition
