Indications
- Rapid acting wide spectrum microbicidal preparation
- Disinfect clean hand of doctors, nurses, and persons
- Disinfect surgical instruments
- Disinfect skin prior to surgery or invasive procedures
- Disinfect wound dressing
Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal effect of chlorhexidine salts
- Binding of cationic molecule to bacterial cell walls
- Bacteriostatic effect at low concentrations
- Cell membrane disruption at high concentrations
Dosage & Administration
- Disinfect clean hand & contaminated materials: 3 ml application
- Disinfect surgical instruments: 5 ml immersion for 2 minutes
- Disinfect skin prior to surgery: 3 ml application with cotton
- Disinfect wound/wound dressing: 3 ml application with cotton
Interaction
Incompatible with soaps and anionic agents. May cause brown stains in fabrics with hypochlorite bleaches
Contraindications
Not to be used in patients hypersensitive to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any composition
