Pharmacology
- Povidone Iodine complex
- Superior to elemental iodine
- Prolongs germicidal activity
- Rapid microbicidal activity against bacteria, protozoa, viruses, fungi/yeasts
- Sporicidal
- Non-staining
- Active in the presence of soap, blood, serum, pus, mucosal secretions and water
Dosage & Administration
- Cream or ointment application for infection treatment
- Cream or ointment application for prevention of infection
- Solution application as paint, spray, or wet soak
- Solution bandaging
- Gargle & Mouthwash use for adults and children over 6 years of age
- Gargle & Mouthwash use for up to 30 seconds without swallowing
- Gargle & Mouthwash repeat usage up to four times daily
- Surgical Scrub for hands and forearms
- Surgical Scrub for preoperative use on patients
- Surgical Scrub for use in the physician's office

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- Possibility of absorption affecting fetal thyroid
- Usually compatible with breastfeeding
- Not recommended for pregnant and lactating women
- No experience regarding safety in human pregnancy or lactation
- Administration during pregnancy and lactation not recommended
Precautions & Warnings
- Consult a Registered Physician for deep or puncture wounds or serious burns
- Discontinue use and consult a Registered Physician if redness, irritation, swelling or pain persists
- Prolonged exposure to wet solution may cause irritation or severe skin reactions
- Avoid use for more than 14 days for Gargle & Mouthwash
- Seek dental or medical advice if sores or ulcers in the mouth do not heal within 14 days
- Use on known iodine sensitivity with care
- Patients with blurred vision after application should not drive or use machinery
