Cream or ointment: Apply once or twice daily or at dressing changes for a maximum of 14 days for treatment of infection

Solution: Apply full strength as often as needed as paint, spray, or wet soak; may be bandaged (where necessary)
Gargle & Mouthwash: Use undiluted or diluted with warm water; gargle or rinse with up to 10 mL for up to 30 seconds without swallowing; repeat up to four times daily for up to 14 consecutive days
Surgical Scrub: Follow specific procedures for preoperative and postoperative washing; for use on patients and in the physician's office; apply a light dusting of powder to the affected area; ophthalmic solution: 1 drop 4 times daily or as required

Not recommended for use during pregnancy
Possibility of absorbing sufficient iodine to affect the fetal thyroid
Usually compatible with breastfeeding (as per American Academy of Pediatrics)
Avoid regular use in pregnant and lactating women
Not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation except for compelling reasons

Consult Registered Physician for deep or puncture wounds or serious burns
Avoid 'pooling' beneath the patient during preoperative prepping
Special caution for regular applications to broken skin in patients with pre-existing renal insufficiency
Care must be taken when used on known iodine sensitivity
Avoid prolonged use of Gargle & Mouthwash as it may lead to significant iodine absorption
Regular use should be avoided in patients on concurrent lithium therapy
Contact lenses should not be worn during the instillation of the ophthalmic solution
