Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended dose for adults and adolescents

Interaction

  • Concomitant administration with ketoconazole or erythromycin
  • Cautious use with statins, CNS depressants, or alcohol
  • Avoid simultaneous intake with grapefruit or grapefruit juice

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Rupatadine or its excipients

Side Effects

  • Common side effects: asthenia, dizziness, drowsiness
  • Uncommon side effects: appetite increase, arthralgia, back pain, impaired concentration, constipation, cough, diarrhea, dry throat, epistaxis, fever, gastrointestinal discomfort, infection risk, irritability, malaise, myalgia, nasal dryness, nausea, oropharyngeal pain, rash, thirst, vomiting, weight increase

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • No clinical data on exposure during pregnancy
  • Potential benefits outweighing potential risks for the infant

Precautions & Warnings

  • Use with caution in patients with prolonged QT interval, uncorrected hypokalemia, and proarrhythmic conditions

  • Safety and efficacy not established in patients less than 12 years of age
  • Not recommended in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency

Overdose Effects

  • Most common adverse reaction: somnolence
  • Symptomatic treatment and necessary supportive measures for accidental ingestion of very high doses
