Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Improves health-related quality of life and work/activity productivity
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria
- Reduces the signs and symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- Mediates hypersensitivity and allergic reactions
- Prevents activation of H1 receptors and downstream effects
- Potent and selective affinity for H1 receptors
- No evidence of carrying antidopaminergic, antiserotonergic, anticholinergic, sedative, or adrenergic blocking activity
- Does not cross the blood-brain barrier
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosage for adults and children 12 years and older
- Different dosages for different age groups and impaired renal function
Interaction
- Interacts with erythromycin or ketoconazole resulting in increased plasma level
- No interaction with omeprazole observed
- Reduced bioavailability with administration of an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide gels
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
Side Effects
- Undesirable effects reported in clinical trials and post-marketing surveillance
- Reported side effects include headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Limited data available on the use in pregnant women
- Not recommended for mothers breastfeeding their babies

Precautions & Warnings
- Limited data in older people and renally or hepatically impaired patients
- Administered with care in special groups

Use in Special Populations
- Altered pharmacokinetics in individuals with renal impairment
- Moderate to severe hepatic disease does not substantially affect the pharmacokinetics
