Indications

Pharmacology

Bacitracin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis
Active against gram-positive bacteria
Active against some gram-negative species
Neomycin binds to the bacterial ribosome
Inhibits protein synthesis
Active against gram-negative aerobes

Dosage & Administration

Ointment application
Clean affected area before use
Apply 2-3 times daily
Dusting powder application
Used for superficial skin infections

Interaction

Bacitracin Zinc interaction with nephrotoxic drugs
Enhanced action of neuromuscular-blocking agents
Neomycin Sulphate interaction with aminoglycosides
Enhanced toxicity with potent diuretics
Impairment of absorption of other drugs
