Pharmacology
- Benzyl Benzoate
- Treatment of ectoparasites
- Concentration: 10-20% v/v
- Toxic to sarcoptes scabiei and pediculosis
- Kills sarcoptes mite in 5 minutes
- Mechanism of action unclear
Dosage & Administration
- Application after hot bath
- Whole body application except head and face
- Possibility of failure lessened with second application within 5 days
- Application to affected region for pediculosis
- Hot bath 12 hours after last application
- Dilution for use in children

- Not to be used on the face

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Inadequate evidence of safety in human pregnancy
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- Breastfeeding suspension during treatment
- Feeding can resume after washing off the emulsion

- Severe skin reaction requires washing off with soap and warm water
