Skin Absorption
Econazole Nitrate is only slightly absorbed from the skin
Dosage
Apply sparingly to skin lesion no more than 2 times daily

Drug Interaction
- Econazole: Metabolized by CYP3A4/2C9; Interaction with oral anticoagulants
- Triamcinolone: Lowering of plasma salicylates levels; Increased risk of Gl bleeding with NSAIDs; Antagonized blood glucose-lowering effects of antidiabetics; Increased risk of Hyperkalemia with certain drugs; Increased clearance with selected drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ingredients
- Specific skin conditions
- Decubitus ulcers
- Rosacea and rosacea-like dermatitis
Side Effects
- Transient local mild irritation
- Adrenal suppression on long term continuous topical steroid therapy
Pregnancy
Topical steroids in large amounts or for prolonged periods should not be used
Lactation
Negligible excretion in breast milk
Precautions
- For external use only
- Discontinue use in case of hypersensitivity or chemical irritation
- Caution for children
- Associated with skin thinning and atrophy
- Increased risk of superinfection or opportunistic infection
- Visual disturbance may be associated with use
Overdose Effects
Corticosteroids applied to the skin can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects
