Description
- Broad spectrum antimycotic
- Anti-inflammatory
- Anti-pruritic
- Anti-allergic effects
- Composed of Econazole Nitrate and Triamcinolone Acetonide
- Range of action against various pathogens
- Antibacterial effect on gram-positive cocci and bacilli
Dosage & Administration
- Sparingly applied to the skin lesion
- Maximum 2 times daily
- Not to be applied with an occlusive dressing or to large areas of skin on the body
- Duration of treatment not longer than 2 weeks
Interaction
- Metabolized by CYP3A4/2C9 oral anticoagulants
- Can lower plasma salicylates levels
- Increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and ulceration with NSAIDs
- Antagonizes blood glucose-lowering effects of antidiabetics
- Increased risk of Hyperkalemia with certain drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients
- Contraindicated in specific skin conditions such as tuberculous, varicella, herpes simplex or other viral infections of the skin
- Not to be used in decubitus ulcers, rosacea and rosacea-like dermatitis
Side Effects
- Transient local mild irritation
- Itching
- Redness
- Adrenal suppression on long term continuous topical steroid therapy
- Potential systemic effects in infants or children
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Topical administration during pregnancy can cause abnormalities of foetal development
- Should not be used in pregnancy or lactation (minimal excretion in breast milk)
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only
- Discontinue use in case of hypersensitivity or chemical irritation
- Caution for systemic effects, skin thinning and atrophy, increased risk of superinfection or opportunistic infection
Overdose Effects
- Corticosteroids can produce systemic effects if absorbed in sufficient amounts through skin
- In case of accidental ingestion, treat symptomatically
- If accidentally applied to the eyes, wash with clean water and seek medical attention if symptoms persist
