Indications
- Relief of flatulence
- Relief of abdominal distention
- Relief of fullness
- Relief of gas and windy colic
- Symptomatic improvement prior to investigation in large bowel preparation
- Treatment of poisoning from accidental ingestion of foaming detergents
Pharmacology
- Antiflatulent action
- Antifoaming properties
- Change in surface tension of gas bubbles
- Enhances visualization prior to gastroscopy
- Reduces gas shadows in radiography of the intestine
- Aids in the elimination of gas from the GI tract
- Reduces postoperative gas pains
Dosage & Administration
- Take after meals and at bedtime
- Can be given with infant's feeds
- Shake the bottle well before each use
- Different dosages for children less than 2 years, children 2-12 years, and adults
Interaction
- No evidence of modifying the effect of other drugs
- Reduced defoaming effect when used with antacids like Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Carbonate
Side Effects
- Physiologically inert
- No adverse effects noted after oral ingestion
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No harmful effects reported for pregnant women
- Excretion in breast milk has not been established
Precautions & Warnings
- Do not exceed 12 doses per day except under the advice and supervision of a physician
