Indications

  • Treatment of eye infections caused by susceptible microorganisms
  • Prevention of inflammation and bacterial infection after eye surgery

Composition

  • Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5 mg per ml
  • Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP equivalent to Dexamethasone Phosphate 1 mg per ml

Pharmacology

  • Moxifloxacin inhibits topoisomerase II and IV
  • Dexamethasone is a cortisone derivative with anti-allergic, anti-exudative, and anti-proliferative properties

Dosage & Administration

  • Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day, in the eye to be operated
  • Day of surgery: instill the medication immediately after eye surgery

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to other quinolones
  • Patients with glaucoma
  • Inflammation in the eye caused by virus, fungi, or mycobacteria

Side Effects

  • Conjunctivitis
  • Decreased visual acuity
  • Dry eye
  • Keratitis
  • Ocular discomfort

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Caution advised when given to nursing women

Precautions & Warnings

  • Discontinue use if allergic reaction occurs
  • Prolonged steroid use may result in ocular hypertension
