Indications
- Short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma
- Use with sunscreen of at least SPF 30
- Avoid sunlight exposure
Pharmacology
- Contains Fluocinolone Acetonide, Hydroquinone and Tretinoin
- Mechanism of action is unknown
- Fluocinolone Acetonide is a corticosteroid
- Hydroquinone is a depigmenting agent
- Tretinoin is a keratolytic agent
Dosage & Administration
- Applied once daily at night
- Applied at least 30 minutes before bedtime
- Gently wash the face and neck with a mild cleanser before application
- Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing during the day
Interactions
- Avoid medicated or abrasive soaps
- Avoid cosmetics with drying effects
- Avoid products with high alcohol concentration
- Avoid concomitant use of photosensitizing medications
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity or allergy to the product
Side Effects
- Possible severe allergic reactions
- Skin reactions such as redness, peeling, burning, dryness, itching
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Contains tretinoin which may cause embryo-fetal death, altered fetal growth, congenital malformations
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Caution in nursing women due to potential systemic absorption
Precautions & Warnings
- May cause mild to moderate irritation
- Local irritation such as skin reddening, peeling, burning, dryness, pruritus expected
- Discontinue use if hypersensitivity or chemical irritation occurs
- Systemic absorption of corticosteroid can lead to reversible HPA axis suppression
