Description
- Polyron Syrup for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia
Indications
- Treatment of latent iron deficiency
- Iron deficiency anemia including macrocytic anemia
- Nutritional anemia of infants
- Anemia due to excessive hemorrhage
- Anemia associated with infections
- Anemia associated with malignant disease
- Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia before, during, and after pregnancy
- Prophylactic therapy for iron deficiency to cover the recommended daily dietary allowances (RDA)
Pharmacology
- Polysaccharide-iron complex
- Necessity for hemoglobin formation
- Oxidative process facilitation
- Non-ionic ferric iron and polymaltose in a stable complex
- Controlled absorption of ferric iron
- No release of free radicals
- No interaction with food components or other medications
- Increased utilization rate of iron in hemoglobin and myoglobin synthesis
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage dependent on iron deficiency extent
- Adults: 10 ml once or twice daily
- Children (6-12 years): 10 ml daily
- Children (2-6 years): 5 ml daily
- Premature infants & Infants: 3.33 mg of elemental iron/kg body weight

Contraindications
- Risk of iron overload conditions
- Hypersensitivity to iron or any other ingredients of the syrup
