Indications
- Treatment of Feofer deficiency
- Rapid Feofer supply
- Patients who cannot tolerate oral Feofer therapy

Pharmacology
- Therapeutic class: haematinic
- Sterile aqueous complex of Polynuclear Iron (III) Hydroxide in Sucrose
- Approximately 30% Sucrose w/v (300 mg/ml)
- pH of 10.5-11.1
- Distribution of Iron in the body
- Binding of Iron to plasma transferrin
- Elimination of sucrose through urinary excretion
Dosage
- 5-10 ml Iron Sucrose Injection (100-200 mg Iron) for adults and elderly
- Limited data on children
- Dosage based on hemoglobin level
- Not to exceed 0.15 ml Iron Sucrose Injection (3 mg Iron) per kg body weight in children
Administration
- Intravenous injection at recommended rate
- Maximum of 10 ml Iron Sucrose Injection (200 mg Iron) per injection
- Test dose before therapeutic dose
- Infusion recommended to reduce risk of hypotensive episodes
- Dilution with 0.9% w/v Sodium Chloride for infusion
Interaction
- Drug-drug interactions not studied
- Contraindicated with concomitant oral iron preparations

- Iron overload
- Hypersensitivity to Iron Sucrose or its components
- Anaemia not caused by Iron deficiency
- History of allergic disorders, asthma, eczema, anaphylaxis
- Liver disease and infections
