Description
- Relieves smooth muscle spasm of the gastrointestinal tract
- Effective for functional bowel/irritable bowel syndrome
- Relieves infantile colic and colicky abdominal pain
- Sterile, pyrogen-free, aqueous solution for intramuscular injection
Indications
- Functional bowel/irritable bowel syndrome
- Urinary incontinence secondary to unstable detrusor muscle
- Infantile colic
- GIT spasm
- Colicky abdominal pain
- Diverticulitis
- Abdominal colic
Pharmacology
- Antispasmodic action on gastrointestinal smooth muscles
- Binds to cholinergic receptors in gut muscles
- Relieves pain caused by gut muscle contractions and spasms
Dosage & Administration
- Oral form dosage for adults: 10 to 20 mg three times a day
- Oral form dosage for children over 6 months: 5 to 10 mg three times a day
- Injectable form dosage for adults: 80 mg daily in 4 equally divided doses
- Intramuscular form should not be used for longer than 1 or 2 days
- Children's dose determined by doctor

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category B
- Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy
- Caution during lactation due to unknown secretion into breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with autonomic neuropathy
- Hepatic or renal disease
- Ulcerative colitis
- Coronary heart disease
- Congestive heart failure
- Cardiac tachyarrhythmia
- Hiatal hernia
- Prostatic hypertrophy
Overdose Effects
- Toxic reactions can include headache, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, dilated pupils, dry skin, dizziness, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing, CNS stimulation
