Indications
- Functional bowel/irritable bowel syndrome
- Urinary incontinence secondary to unstable detrusor muscle
- Infantile colic
- GIT spasm
- Colicky abdominal pain

Pharmacology
- Antispasmodic action
- Anticholinergic activity
- Relief of smooth muscle spasm in the gastrointestinal tract
- Targeting cholinergic receptors
- Relaxation of gut muscle to alleviate colic pain
Dosage & Administration
- Adults oral dosage: 10 to 20 mg three times a day
- Children (over 6 months) oral dosage: 5 to 10 mg three times a day
- Adults injectable dosage: 80 mg daily (in 4 equally divided doses) via intramuscular injection
- Precaution against prolonged use of intramuscular form
- Children's dosage determined by the doctor
Side Effects
- Insomnia
- Mydriasis
- Cycloplegia
- Increased ocular tension

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category B
- Absence of teratogenic or embryocidal effects in animal trials
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Caution advised for lactating mothers due to unknown drug secretion into breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with autonomic neuropathy
- Consideration in patients with hepatic or renal disease
- Caution in ulcerative colitis
- Precaution in coronary heart disease and congestive heart failure
- Attention for patients with cardiac tachyarrhythmia, hiatal hernia, and known/suspected prostatic hypertrophy
Overdose Effects
- Toxic reaction rare with dicycloverine
- Potential signs and symptoms: headache, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, dilated pupils, hot dry skin, dizziness, dry mouth, difficulty in swallowing, CNS stimulation
