Indications

• Treatment of Iron, Folic acid, Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C deficiency
• Prophylaxis of Iron, Folic acid, Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C deficiency
• Meeting extra need of vitamins and minerals during pregnancy
• Meeting extra need of vitamins and minerals when planning for pregnancy

Composition

• Ferrous Sulphate 150 mg
• Folic acid 0.5 mg
• Thiamine Mononitrate (vitamin B1 ) 2 mg
• Riboflavin (vitamin B2 ) 2 mg
• Nicotinamide (vitamin B3 ) 10 mg
• Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (vitamin B6 ) 1 mg
• Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) 50 mg

Pharmacology

• Essential role of Iron in making red blood cells
• Essential role of Folic acid in metabolic systems and erythropoiesis
• Necessary role of Vitamin C in collagen formation and tissue repair
• Importance of Vitamin B complex in maintaining cell health and energy levels

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended adult dose of one capsule daily
• Possibility of requiring 2 capsules a day in more severe deficiency states
• Direction by physician for dosage

Interaction

• Caution in patients with Iron storage or Iron absorption disease
• Impaired absorption with concurrent use of antacids and Tetracycline chelates with Iron

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
• Contraindicated in haemachromatosis and haemosiderosis patients
• Cautious use in patients taking Levodopa due to reduction of its effect by Pyridoxine

Side Effects

• Generally well tolerated
• Possibility of allergic reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Recommended use during pregnancy and lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Care in patients at risk of iron overload
• Impaired absorption with Iron chelates with tetracycline

Overdose Effects

• Accidental overdose of iron leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6
• Avoid higher doses with liver disease or hemochromatosis
• Excess of Iron causing bloody diarrhea, vomiting, acidosis, darkened stools, abdominal pain
• Safety of Riboflavin in reported doses
• Higher doses of Nicotinamide may cause vomiting, diarrhea
• Sensory neuropathy with very long periods of high Pyridoxine consumption
• Unlikeliness of significant effects from acute ingestion of Ascorbic acid
