Indications
- Treatment and prophylaxis of Iron, Folic acid, Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C deficiency
- Meeting extra need of vitamins and minerals, especially in pregnancy or when planning for pregnancy
Composition
- Ferrous Sulphate 150 mg
- Folic acid 0.5 mg
- Thiamine Mononitrate (vitamin B1) 2 mg
- Riboflavin (vitamin B2) 2 mg
- Nicotinamide (vitamin B3) 10 mg
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (vitamin B6) 1 mg
- Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) 50 mg
Pharmacology
- Essential role of Iron in making red blood cells and preventing iron deficiency anaemia
- Essential role of Folic acid in metabolic systems, erythropoiesis, and WBC / platelet production
- Necessary role of Vitamin C in collagen formation, tissue repair, and oxidation/reduction reactions
- Importance of Vitamin B complex in maintaining cell health and energy levels
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended adult dose: one capsule daily
- In more severe deficiency states, 2 capsules a day may be required or as directed by the physician
Interaction
- Care needed in patients with Iron storage or absorption disease
- Possible impaired absorption when taken concurrently with antacids and Tetracycline due to chelation with Iron
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
- Contradicted in haemachromatosis, haemosiderosis, and in patients receiving repeated blood transfusion or with anaemia not due to iron deficiency
- Caution needed in patients taking Levodopa as Pyridoxine reduces its effect

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Recommended during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Care needed in patients who may develop iron overload, such as those with hemochromatosis, haemolytic anaemia or red cell aplasia
- Impaired absorption when Iron chelates with tetracycline
Overdose Effects
- Accidental overdose of iron-containing products as a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6
- Possible side effects of excess doses of Nicotinamide and Pyridoxine
- Unlikely significant effects from acute ingestion of Ascorbic acid, even of massive doses
