Indications

Treatment and prophylaxis of Zinc, Iron, Folic Acid, B-vitamins and Vitamin-C deficiency especially during pregnancy and lactation

Pharmacological Actions

  • Zinc sulfate: protein precipitation, mild vasodilation, oral/systemic zinc supplement
  • Iron: red blood cell production, prevention of iron deficiency anaemia
  • Folic acid: coenzyme production, nucleoprotein synthesis, WBC and platelet production
  • Nicotinamide: involvement in cellular metabolic pathways
  • Vitamin C: collagen formation, tissue repair, oxidation/reduction reactions
  • Vitamin B complex: essential for cell health, energy production

Usability

One capsule daily dosage, can be increased to 2 capsules as directed by physician

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients

Care needed in patients at risk of iron overload, iron chelation with tetracycline

Overdose Effects

  • Accidental overdose of iron in children
  • Riboflavin safe at normal doses, higher Nicotinamide doses may cause vomiting, diarrhea
  • Sensory neuropathy in long-term high Pyridoxine doses
  • No reported case of Folic acid overdose
  • Acute ingestion of Ascorbic acid unlikely to cause significant effects
  • Zinc toxicity in both acute and chronic forms
  • 150-450 mg zinc associated with low copper status, altered iron function, reduced immune function, and reduced HDL levels
