Indications
- Treatment of Iron, Folic Acid and Zinc deficiency during pregnancy and lactation
Composition
- Ferrous Sulphate BP 150 mg
- Folic Acid BP 500 mcg
- Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate USP 61.80 mg
Dosage & Administration
- 1 capsule daily for adults or elderly
- 1 capsule daily for children aged over 1 year
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the components
- Iron overload
Side Effects
- Dark stools
- Nausea
- Gastrointestinal irritation
- Allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during first trimester should be avoided if possible
- Justified during the remainder of the pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- Care in patients who may develop Iron overloads
- Failure to respond to treatment may indicate other causes of anaemia
- Potential interactions with tetracycline, penicillamine, antacids, etc.
- Risk of Zinc accumulation in patients with renal failure
Overdose Effects
- Danger of Iron overdosage, particularly in children
- Corrosive effects of zinc in gross overdose
- Symptomatic and supportive measures should be given as required
