Indications

  • Treatment of Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc deficiency during pregnancy and lactation

Composition

  • Ferrous Sulphate BP 150 mg (equivalent to 47 mg Iron)
  • Folic Acid BP 500 mcg
  • Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate USP 61.80 mg (equivalent to 22.50 mg Zinc)

Dosage & Administration

  • Adult or Elderly: 1-2 capsules daily
  • Children (aged over 1 year): 1 capsule daily. May be mixed with soft cool food

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the components
  • Iron overload

Side Effects

  • Dark stools
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Discomfort

  • Diarrhoea
  • Gastrointestinal upset
  • Rare reports of allergic reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Avoid use during the first trimester of pregnancy if possible
  • Justified use during the remainder of the pregnancy in case of inadequate diet

Precautions & Warnings

  • Care in patients susceptible to Iron overloads
  • Failure to respond to treatment may indicate other causes of anaemia
  • Potential interactions with tetracycline, penicillamine, antacids
  • Zinc accumulation risk in patients with renal failure

Overdose Effects

  • Danger of Iron overdosage, particularly in children
  • Corrosive effects of zinc in case of overdosage
  • Symptomatic and supportive measures recommended in case of overdose
