Composition

  • Ferrous Sulphate BP 150 mg
  • Folic Acid BP 500 mcg
  • Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate USP 61.80 mg

Dosage & Administration

  • Adult dosage: 1 capsule daily
  • More severe cases may require 2 capsules daily
  • Children aged over 1 year: 1 capsule daily
  • Capsule may be opened and pellets mixed with food
  • Do not chew the pellets

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to components
  • Iron overload

  • Dark stools
  • Nausea

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Avoid use during first trimester if possible
  • Use with evidence of Iron deficiency
  • Supplementary Zinc and Folic Acid justified

Precautions & Warnings

  • Care in patients at risk of Iron overload
  • Failure to respond to treatment may indicate other causes of anaemia
  • Potential interactions with tetracycline, penicillamine, antacids
  • Reduced Zinc absorption in presence of Iron
  • Reduced Iron absorption in presence of penicillamine, antacids
  • Risk of Zinc accumulation in renal failure patients

Overdose Effects

  • Iron overdosage dangerous, requires immediate attention
  • Gastric lavage or induced vomiting in early stages
  • Oral desferrioxamine for treatment
  • Zinc Sulphate over dosage is corrosive
  • Symptomatic and supportive measures required
