Composition

  • Elemental iron 50 mg (As carbonyl iron INN)
  • Folic acid BP 500 microgram
  • Zinc sulphate monohydrate USP 61.80 mg (equivalent to 22.50 mg zinc)

Dosage & Administration

Interaction

  • Decrease in absorption of tetracycline antibiotics by Carbonyl Iron
  • Decrease in absorption of quinolone antibiotics by Carbonyl Iron
  • Decrease in absorption of levodopa by Carbonyl Iron
  • Decrease in absorption of levothyroxine by Carbonyl Iron
  • Decrease in absorption of methyldopa by Carbonyl Iron
  • Decrease in absorption of penecillamine by Carbonyl Iron
  • Interaction of Folic Acid with antiepileptics
  • Possibly reduced plasma concentrations of phenobarbital by Folic Acid
  • Possibly reduced plasma concentrations of phenytoin by Folic Acid
  • Possibly reduced plasma concentrations of primidone by Folic Acid

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to any component
  • Iron overload
