Indications
- Treatment of Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc deficiency during pregnancy and lactation
Composition
- Elemental iron 50 mg (As carbonyl iron INN)
- Folic acid BP 500 microgram
- Zinc sulphate monohydrate USP 61.80 mg (equivalent to 22.50 mg zinc)
Pharmacology
- Timed-release capsule containing Carbonyl Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate
Dosage & Administration
- One Capsule daily before food for adults
Interaction
- Decreases absorption of certain antibiotics and interacts with antiepileptic medications
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component and Iron overload
Side Effects
- Gastrointestinal irritations, dark stool, and rare allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during first trimester should be avoided if possible, justified during the remainder of pregnancy with inadequate diet
Precautions & Warnings
- Special care in patients with Iron overload states and failure to respond to treatment may require further investigations
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms may include decreased energy, nausea, abdominal pain, coma, seizures
