Indications

  • Treatment of Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc deficiency during pregnancy and lactation

Composition

  • Each capsule contains Elemental iron 50 mg (As carbonyl iron INN), Folic acid BP 500 microgram, Zinc sulphate monohydrate USP 61.80 mg (equivalent to 22.50 mg zinc)

Pharmacology

  • Combined preparation of Carbonyl Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate
  • Carbonyl Iron with not less than 98% Iron content
  • High bioavailability and low toxicity of Carbonyl Iron

Dosage & Administration

  • Adult: One Capsule daily before food or as directed by the physician

Interaction

  • Carbonyl Iron decreases the absorption of certain antibiotics and other drugs
  • Folic Acid interacts with antiepileptics

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to any component
  • Iron overload

Side Effects

  • Gastrointestinal irritations such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhoea
  • Possibility of dark stool
  • Rare allergic reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Precautions during first trimester of pregnancy

Precautions & Warnings

Overdose Effects

  • Symptoms of Carbonyl Iron overdose include decreased energy, nausea, abdominal pain, tarry stool, weak, rapid pulse, fever, coma, and seizures
