Indications
- Treatment and prevention of Iron, Vitamin B complex and Zinc deficiencies
- Specially indicated during pregnancy and lactation
Composition
- Each 5 ml syrup contains Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex equivalent to elemental Iron 50 mg
- Thiamine Hydrochloride 5 mg
- Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium equivalent to Riboflavin 2 mg
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride 2 mg
- Nicotinamide 20 mg
- Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg
Pharmacology
- Preparation of Iron, Vitamin B complex, and Zinc
- Controlled absorption of iron due to Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex
- Stability of Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 5 ml-10 ml (1-2 teaspoonful) 3 times daily or as recommended by physician
- Children dosage: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) 3 times daily or as recommended by physician
- Infants dosage: 0.33 ml/kg body weight daily or as recommended by physician
Interaction
- Unlikely ionic interaction with foodstuff components or concomitant administrations of medicaments due to complex bound Iron
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
Side Effects
- Possible side effects of oral Iron preparations: nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in conditions with a risk of Iron overload such as hemochromatosis, thalassemia, hemosiderosis, or hemolytic anemia
Use in Special Populations
- Recommended for use in children
Overdose Effects
- Possible effects of overdose: epigastric pain, diarrhea, vomiting, metabolic acidosis, and convulsion
- Emergency medical attention is necessary in case of overdose
