Zifov (Capsule)

Indications

• Treatment of Zinc, Iron, Folic Acid, B-vitamins and Vitamin-C deficiency
• Prophylaxis during pregnancy and lactation

Composition

• Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate 61.8 mg
• Dried Ferrous Sulphate 150 mg
• Folic Acid (Vitamin-B9) 0.50 mg
• Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin-B1) 2 mg
• Riboflavin (Vitamin-B2) 2 mg
• Nicotinamide (Vitamin-B3) 10 mg
• Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin-B6) 1 mg
• Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin-C) 50 mg

Pharmacology

• Zinc sulfate precipitates protein and has astringent and weak antiseptic activity
• Iron aids in red blood cell production and oxygen transport
• Folic acid essential for coenzymes in metabolic systems
• Nicotinamide involved in cellular metabolic pathways
• Vitamin C necessary for collagen formation and tissue repair
• Vitamin B complex essential for good health and cell health

Dosage & Administration

• One capsule daily, with possibility of 2 capsules in severe cases or as directed by physician

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients

Side Effects

• Generally well tolerated
• Possible allergic reactions

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Care needed in patients at risk of iron overload
• Iron chelates with tetracycline, affecting absorption

Overdose Effects

• Accidental overdose of iron in children can be fatal
• Riboflavin considered safe, no reported toxic symptoms
• Higher doses of Nicotinamide may cause vomiting, diarrhea
• Sensory neuropathy observed with high Pyridoxine consumption
• Ascorbic acid unlikely to cause significant effects even in massive doses
• Zinc toxicity associated with high daily ingestion
