Indications
- Treatment and prophylaxis of iron, folic acid, zinc, vitamin-B complex and vitamin-C deficiency during pregnancy and lactation
Composition
- Elemental Iron [as Carbonyl iron] INN 50 mg
- Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate BP 61.80 mg equivalent to Zinc 22.50 mg
- Folic Acid BP 0.5mg
- Nicotinamide BP 10 mg
- Riboflavin BP 2 mg
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 1 mg
- Ascorbic Acid USP 50 mg
- Thiamine Mononitrate BP 2 mg

- Carbonyl Iron higher bioavailability and low toxicity
- Folic acid vital for cell division

Dosage & Administration
- Adult: One capsule daily before food or as directed by physician
- Use in Children & Adolescents: Upon consultation with a doctor
Interaction
- Carbonyl Iron decreases absorption of certain antibiotics
- Folic Acid interacts with antiepileptics
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any ingredients
- Iron therapy contraindicated in haemolytic anaemia presence
Side Effects
- Allergic sensitization reported with oral Folic acid
- Oral iron preparation may cause constipation
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Avoid use of any drug during first trimester if possible
- Prophylaxis of Iron deficiency justified during remainder of pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- Care in patients who may develop iron overload
- Iron chelates with tetracycline may impair absorption
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms of Carbonyl Iron overdose include decreased energy, nausea, abdominal pain, weak rapid pulse, coma, seizures
