Description
- Indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of iron, folic acid, zinc, vitamin-B complex, and vitamin-C deficiency, especially during pregnancy and lactation
- Combines elemental iron, zinc sulfate monohydrate, folic acid, nicotinamide, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, ascorbic acid, and thiamine mononitrate
- Carbonyl iron has higher bioavailability, low toxicity, and better GI tolerance
- Folic acid is vital for cell division and neural tube development
- Vitamin B Complex is essential for growth and development of unborn babies
- Vitamin C plays a role in the structure of collagen in the fetal membrane
- Zinc is crucial for fetal growth, central nervous system development, and maternal and infant health
- Recommended dosage for adults: one capsule daily before food or as directed by the physician
- Use in children and adolescents upon consultation with a doctor
- May decrease the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics, levodopa, levothyroxine, methyldopa, and penicillamine
- Folic acid interacts with antiepileptics, possibly reducing plasma concentrations of phenobarbital, phenytoin, and primidone
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
- Iron therapy is contraindicated in the presence of haemolytic anaemia
- Possible side effects: allergic sensitization, constipation
- Use during the first trimester of pregnancy should be avoided if possible; iron administration during the first trimester requires definite evidence of Iron deficiency
