- Elemental Iron [as Carbonyl iron] INN 50 mg
- Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate BP 61.80 mg equivalent to Zinc 22.50 mg
- Folic Acid BP 0.5mg
- Nicotinamide BP 10 mg
- Riboflavin BP 2 mg
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 1 mg
- Ascorbic Acid USP 50 mg
- Thiamine Mononitrate BP 2 mg
Pharmacology
- Carbonyl Iron with higher bioavailability
- Folic acid for neural tube development
- Vitamin B complex for fetal growth and development
- Vitamin C for collagen structure in fetal membrane
- Zinc for fetal growth and central nervous system development
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: One capsule daily before food
- Pediatric dosage: Upon consultation with a doctor
Interaction
- Carbonyl Iron decreases absorption of certain antibiotics
- Folic Acid interacts with antiepileptics
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
- Presence of haemolytic anaemia
Side Effects
- Allergic sensitization from Folic acid
- Constipation from oral iron preparation
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Avoid use during first trimester if possible
- Prophylaxis during remainder of pregnancy for inadequate diet
Precautions & Warnings
- Care with patients who may develop iron overload
- Caution with hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia
