Dosage and administration
- 0.5 mg tablet 3 times daily after meal
- 1 ampoule (Mecobalamin 500 mcg) daily, administered IM or IV 3 times a week for peripheral neuropathies
- 1 ampoule (Mecobalamin 500 mcg) daily, administered IM or IV 3 times a week for megaloblastic anemia in adults
- Single administration of 1 ampoule at 1 to 3 month intervals for maintenance therapy for megaloblastic anemia in adults
- Not recommended for use in children
Interactions
- Reduced absorption by neomycin, aminosalicylic acid, histamine H2-antagonists, omeprazole, and colchicine
- Decreased serum concentrations by oral contraceptives
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Mecobalamin or other components of the formulation

Pregnancy and lactation
- No data available for use in pregnant women & lactating mother
- Vitamin B12 distributed into breast milk
- Considered usually compatible with breast feeding by The American Academy of Pediatrics
Precautions and warnings
- Not to be used aimlessly for more than one month unless it is effective
- Prolonged use of larger doses not recommended for patients whose occupation requires handling of mercury or mercury compounds
