Description

Dosage & Administration
- 40000 IU once weekly for 7 weeks (adults)
- 1400-2000 IU/day for maintenance therapy (adults)
- 20000 IU every 4 weeks for prevention of deficiency (adults)
- 20000 IU once a month in specific osteoporosis therapy (adults)
- 20000 IU once every 2 weeks for 6 weeks (children 12-18 years)
- 20000 IU every 6 weeks for prevention of deficiency (children 12-18 years)
- 1000 IU (1-2 tablets) daily for film-coated tablet
- 1000-2000 IU daily for oroflash or chewable tablets
- Syryp dosages for patients with risk of Cholecalciferol deficiency
- Injection dosages for prevention and treatment of Vitamin D deficiency
Interaction
- Interactions with various drugs affecting absorption and metabolism
Contraindications
- Contradictions in diseases associated with hypercalcemia
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity and evidence of Vitamin D3 toxicity
Side Effects
- Possible symptoms including anorexia, lassitude, nausea & vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, weight loss, polyuria, sweating, headache, thirst, vertigo, raised concentrations of calcium and phosphate in plasma and urine
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safe use in pregnancy up to 4000 IU
- Excreted in breastmilk
- Additional vitamin D3 should be considered for breast-fed child based on the mother's dosage
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitoring of plasma-calcium concentration in certain patients
- Consultations required for specific medical conditions and medications
Use in Special Populations
