Indications
- Antispasmodic medication for smooth muscle in various parts of the abdominal cavity
- Recommended for gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract visceral spasms
- Indicated for spasmolytic dysmenorrhea
- Recommended for severe gastrointestinal and biliary pain
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 20mg four times daily
- Pediatric dosage (6-12 years): 10mg three times daily or as per healthcare provider's instructions
- Injection dosage: 20mg for muscle or nerve application, to be reapplied after 30 minutes if necessary
- Higher dosage for endoscopy procedures
Contraindications
- Prostatic hypertrophy patients should avoid usage
- Elderly individuals should use with caution
- Patients with parasitic ileus or pyloric stenosis should avoid usage
- Not recommended for patients with glaucoma due to potential mydriatic effects
Side Effects
- Possible side effects include dry mouth, mydriasis, increased intraocular pressure, flushing, dry skin, bradycardia, tachycardia, and arrhythmia
- May cause fatigue, vomiting, dizziness, and staggered movements
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Exercise caution during the first trimester similar to other medications

- May cause drowsiness and mental alertness impairment
- Patients using this medication should avoid driving or operating machinery
- Caution in hyperthyroidism, cardiac insufficiency, or cardiopulmonary disease
- Use with caution in combination with certain anticholinergics, antihistamines, beta-blockers, or tricyclic antidepressants
