Indications
- Antispasmodic medication
- Relief of smooth muscle spasms
- Treatment of gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract symptoms
- Management of spastic dysmenorrhea
- Use in radiological procedures for preventing spasms
Dosage & Administration
- 20mg tablet four times daily for adults
- 10mg tablet three times daily for children aged 6-12 years
- 20mg injection for muscle or urinary tract administration
- Additional dose may be needed for endoscopic procedures
Contraindications
- Prostatic hypertrophy
- Paralytic ileus or pyloric stenosis
- Glaucoma
- Pregnancy and lactation
Side Effects
- Dry mouth
- Pupil dilation
- Increased intraocular pressure
- Flushing
- Skin dryness
- Bradycardia and subsequent tachycardia
- Fatigue, vomiting, dizziness, and staggering
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use with caution in the first trimester of pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- May cause drowsiness and reduce alertness
- Avoid operating vehicles or heavy machinery
- Use caution in thyrotoxicosis, cardiac insufficiency, or heart failure
- Use with other anticholinergic medications with reduced dosage
