Indications

  • Treatment of thiamine deficiency manifestations

Pharmacology

  • Essential for maintaining normal health
  • Rapid absorption from upper small intestine, not stored in the body

Dosage & Administration

  • Prophylaxis: 3 to 10 mg daily
  • Mild chronic deficiency: 10 to 25 mg daily
  • Severe deficiency: 200 to 300 mg daily

  • Acts synergistically with other B-complex vitamins
  • Low potential for causing adverse effects

Contraindications

  • No absolute contraindication
  • Increased risk of anaphylaxis with repeated parenteral administration
