Indications

- Not stored in body to any appreciable extent

Dosage & Administration
- Prophylaxis: 3 to 10 mg daily
- Mild chronic deficiency: 10 to 25 mg daily
- Severe deficiency: 200 to 300 mg daily
Interaction
- Acts synergistically with other B-complex vitamins
Contraindications
- No absolute contraindication
- Increased risk of anaphylaxis with repeated parenteral administration
- Mild allergic phenomena as warning signs
- Avoid intravenous administration except in comatose patients
- No need for parenteral administration after correction of deficiency
Side Effects
- No adverse effects when given orally
- Anaphylactic reactions with large intravenous doses
- Transient mild soreness at intramuscular administration site
