Description

Combination of Thiamine (Vit. B1), Riboflavine (Vit. B2) and Pyridoxine (Vit. B6)

Pharmacology

• Thiamine forms thiamine pyrophosphate for carbohydrate metabolism
• Riboflavin is essential for energy utilization and tissue respiration
• Pyridoxine functions in carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism, Hb formation, GABA synthesis & glycogen release

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 2 ml every day or alternate days intravenously or intramuscularly

Interaction

Pyridoxine may reduce levodopa efficacy in Parkinson's disease patients

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of its components

Adverse reactions reported with specific vitamins at higher levels, allergic and idiosyncratic reactions possible at lower levels

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution in patients taking levodopa
• Hypersensitivity may develop in patients previously given thiamine
• Discontinue drug if untoward reactions develop
• Intramuscular administration may cause transient pain
• Administer slowly when used undiluted
