Indications
- Antispasmodic medication for smooth muscle spasm in the abdominal and genitourinary tracts
- Treatment of gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract spasms
- Relief from spastic dysmenorrhea
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosage for adults: 20mg four times daily
- Recommended dosage for children (6-12 years): 10mg three times daily or as directed by a healthcare professional
- Recommended injection dosage for adults: 20mg for muscle or nerve application, may be repeated after 30 minutes if necessary
Contraindications
- Prostatic enlargement patients should avoid its use
- Use with caution in the elderly
- Not recommended for individuals with paralytic ileus or pyloric stenosis
- Avoid in patients with glaucoma
- Not to be used in individuals with thyrotoxicosis, cardiac insufficiency, or heart failure
Side Effects
- Dryness of mouth, pupillary dilation, increased intraocular pressure, flushing, dry skin, bradycardia, followed by tachycardia and arrhythmia
- Fatigue, vomiting, dizziness, and staggering may occur occasionally
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use with caution in the first three months of pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- May cause drowsiness and mental alertness impairment
- Patients using this medication should avoid driving or operating machinery
- Alcohol consumption should be avoided by patients
- Caution required in patients with thyrotoxicosis, cardiac insufficiency, or heart failure, as it can exacerbate the conditions
- Combination use with other anticholinergic drugs may increase its action, and dosages may need adjustment accordingly
