Indications
- Antispasmodic medication
- Treatment of gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract spasms
- Management of dysmenorrhea
- Relief from gastric, renal, or biliary pain
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 20mg four times a day
- Pediatric dosage (6-12 years): 10mg three times a day
- Injection dosage for muscle or vascular use: 20mg per application
Contraindications
- Prostatic enlargement
- Paralytic ileus or pyloric stenosis
- Glaucoma
Side Effects
- Xerostomia (dry mouth)
- Pupil dilation
- Increased intraocular pressure
- Flushing
- Bradycardia and subsequent tachycardia
- Drowsiness
- Vomiting
- Dizziness
- Staggering
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Caution advised in the first trimester
Precautions & Warnings
- May cause drowsiness and reduce alertness
- Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery
- Abstain from alcohol consumption
- Special caution in cases of hyperthyroidism, cardiac insufficiency, or heart failure
- Use with caution in combination with other anticholinergic drugs or tricyclic antidepressants
