Pharmacology
- Vitamin-B complex contains the most important members of the vitamin B group in pure form and in therapeutically balanced proportions
- Components regulate carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism
- Specific biological role for each component
- Deficiency may cause glossitis, stomatitis, cheilosis, polyneuritis, beriberi, pellagra, vascularisation of cornea
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet/Capsule: 1-2 tablet/capsule 3 times daily or as directed by physician
- Syrup: 2-3 teaspoonful daily or as directed by physician
- Injection: 2 ml daily for intramuscular and intravenous administration or as directed by physician
Interaction
- Potential decrease in efficacy of levodopa in the treatment of Parkinsonism with daily 5 mg pyridoxine intake
- Not recommended for patients undergoing levodopa therapy
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of its components
Side Effects
- Adverse reactions reported with specific vitamins and minerals at substantially higher levels
- Possible allergic and idiosyncratic reactions
- Possible gastrointestinal intolerance with iron intake at usual recommended level
